Join Learn to Type! and become a keyboard hero! In this fun and interactive after-school program, students in grades K–4 will learn the basics of typing through exciting games, challenges, and creative activities. Each session focuses on building strong keyboarding habits, including proper finger placement, posture, and technique, while gradually increasing accuracy and speed. Whether students are just starting out or already know their way around the keys, this club provides a supportive environment to build confidence and essential digital literacy skills.
Learning Objectives
- Develop correct finger placement and posture for efficient keyboarding.
- Build accuracy and speed through structured practice, games, and challenges.
- Strengthen focus and perseverance by working toward typing goals step by step.
- Learn to use typing as a tool for communication, creativity, and schoolwork.
- Gain familiarity with digital etiquette and safe computer practices.
Student Outcomes
By the end of the session, students will be able to demonstrate improved typing accuracy and speed appropriate to their grade level, show consistent use of correct finger placement and posture, and feel more confident using typing in both academic and creative contexts. Students will also develop a positive mindset toward practice and skill-building, carrying their new abilities into future digital learning.
