This class fosters problem solving, planning, and design skills as students design and configure their own custom games. Students will learn about the process of developing video games, planning good stories, and audience experience through hands-on practice and peer feedback. No coding or computer experience is required, but this class will lay the groundwork for understanding how coding is used to make video games, and why.
Students will receive access to their own individual accounts on Bloxels, an educational platform that allows students to use pre-programmed blocks to plan their very own platform or top-down games. They'll be able to publish their games for the public to play on Bloxels' Arcade. Their account is online, so they have access to work on their games at home with internet access through a tablet or computer.
